As artist and founder of the SSUR clothing line and its sub-brands Rebel Ape and Caviar Cartel, Russ Karablin has become a prominent figure in both the street wear and contemporary art scenes. The strong influence of New York City, from its hip hop culture to its street art, is prevalent within SSURs imagery. Equally as influential to his designs is Russ Karablin’s Russian background. He combines pop culture memorabilia with war propaganda, meshing past and present iconography, to create work concerned with sex, politics, and protest. Watch the 2002 interview after the jump.

David Weeks has given Kidrobot’s artist-interpreted vinyl collectible its first-ever large scale wooden revamp. The ultra-exclusive “Chiseler” is modeled after Weeks’ poseable timber toys Hanno the Gorilla and Ursa the Bear. Hand-hewn from zebra-striped hard pine, Chiseler makes sculpted facets out of Dunny’s familiar roundness. The limited edition of 5 is available exclusively at Kidrobot. Check out the detailed pics after the jump.
Here we have a look at Nike SB’s newest Quickstrike the Dunk Hi “Brain Wreck“. These shoes were designed by Todd Bratrud, whom also designed the “Send Help” Nike SB’s. The shoe features a dominant grey upper, along with a red tongue and a red toe box. The best detail on this shoe would have to be the insole, which is the design of a brain. Along with the release of the shoe, Nike SB added a hat and shirt to go with the sneaker. These should be hitting stores this month. You can pick your pair up now at Premier.
